Hobbies

What I do when I'm not in front of a screen. Mostly outside, mostly moving.

Cycling

What started as fitness became a way to think. Most of the long ones are solo: six double centuries, the longest a 285km arc from Bulacan through Nueva Ecija and into Aurora, and forty-odd rides past the hundred mark since the first one in 2021. Some of my best debugging instincts arrive mid-climb, when the only option is to keep moving.

Running

Two pairs by the door, and which one I reach for decides what kind of thinking I'll get. Road is metronomic — settle into a pace, hold it, and the work is all mental. Trail is the opposite: roots, rocks, changing camber, constant recalculation. One taught me to sit with a long task. The other taught me to reroute fast when the ground moves.

Hiking

Thirty-seven mountains and fifty-four summits since 2018, all logged in a notebook I call Bundoks. I coordinated hiking tours for a while, which is where the habit of writing everything down started. Manalmon and Gola were the first pair I ever climbed and the most recent pair too — eight years apart, same trailhead.
